Rafinha

Márcio Rafael Ferreira de Souza, commonly known as Rafinha, (born 7 September 1985) is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a right back for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. His name translated to English literally means 'Little Rafa'.

Rafinha began his football career at the age of seven, playing for Gremio Londrinense, a futsal team from his home town of Londrina in Paraná. By the age of twelve, he had begun training with PSTC, a local football club, before signing for Londrina Esporte Clube in 2001, at the age of 16. At the end of his first year with Londrina Rafinha was signed by Coritiba Foot Ball Club. This meant moving hundreds of kilometres from his home town, but allowed Rafinha to display his talents on the national stage.

At Coritiba Rafinha eventually found his way into the Brazilian Under-20 team, and played in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands. During the tournament Rafinha scored two goals and played an integral part in Brazil's progress to the bronze medal. Rafinha's performance at the tournament alerted numerous European teams to his ability, and eventually it was Schalke who were able to prise the right-back from Coritiba for an estimated €5 million on a four-year contract.

On 1 June 2011, along with Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich confirmed Rafinha's transfer from Genoa. He signed a three-year contract and reports say Bayern Munich paid €5.5 million for him.

In the summer of 2008 Rafinha was involved in a dispute with his club about his participation for Brazil at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.Schalke 04 (Rafinha) along with Werder Bremen (Diego) and Barcelona (Lionel Messi) did not want to release their players for the olympic games so that they could help them in their domestic and European competitions. The case was taken to FIFA who ruled that all clubs should release their players aged under 23 for the Olympic Games.

Schalke, Bremen and Barcelona took their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) who eventually ruled in the clubs favour stating that "The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the appeals filed by FC Schalke 04, SV Werder Bremen and FC Barcelona against the decision issued on 30 July 2008 by the Single Judge of the Fifa's Players' Status Committee that consequently has been set aside in its entirety"

Mark Alan Webber (born 27 August 1976) is an Australian Formula One driver.

After some racing success in Australia, Webber moved to the United Kingdom in 1995 to further his motorsport career. Webber began a partnership with fellow Australian Paul Stoddart, at that time owner of the European Racing Formula 3000 team, which eventually took them both into Formula One when Stoddart bought the Minardi team.

Webber made his Formula One debut in 2002, scoring Minardi's first points in three years at his and Stoddart's home race. After his first season Jaguar Racing took him on as lead driver. During two years with the generally uncompetitive team Webber several times qualified on the front two rows of the grid and outperformed his team mates. His first F1 win was with Red Bull Racing in the 2009 German Grand Prix, which followed second places at the 2009 Chinese, Turkish, and British Grands Prix. By the end of 2009,

Webber had scored eight podiums, including another victory in Brazil. His eight podiums in 2009 compares to only two podiums in the first seven years of his career. He has since added ten more podiums in 2010, including victories in Spain, Monaco, Britain and Hungary. Webber finished the 2010 season in third place having led for a long period, losing out to teammate Sebastian Vettel.Webber was also a long-term director of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, the Formula One drivers' union.

Tine Baun (born 21 July 1979, née Rasmussen) is a female badminton player from Denmark.

Most notably, she has won the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships women's singles title twice in 2008 and 2010.Baun played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics, losing to Petya Nedeltcheva of Bulgaria in the round of 32.

As for Baun's record in the BWF Super Series, she won the 2007 Japan Open beating all Chinese born-player from the 1st match and also the 1st seeded, Zhang Ning of China in quarterfinal, 2008 Malaysia Open. Baun also played at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing as the 6th seed. She beat Akvile Stapusaityte from Lithuania in the round of 32, but again had to "go home" early, losing to Maria Kristin Yulianti of Indonesia 21–18, 19–21, 14–21 in the round of 16.

Tine had claimed three titles in 2009, the Malaysia Open by beating the 1st seeded, Zhou Mi of Hongkong in the final, Korea Open by beating Pi Hongyan of France and Denmark Open by beating the 1st seeded, Wang Yihan of China. Chen participated in the Korea Open Super Series in January. He made it through to the semi-finals before losing to Danish player Peter Gade, 13-21 21-10 17-21. A week later, in the Malaysia Open, he lost in the opening round to Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand.

At the prestigious All England Open in March, he registered an impressive victory over 8th seed Jan Jorgensen in the first round but fell to Korea's Shon Wan-ho 18-21 21-18 19-21 in the second round. He followed up this disappointment with his best ever performance in a Super Series event by making it through to the final of the Swiss Open, where he finished runner-up to compatriot Chen Jin.

Chen was part of the Chinese team that successfully won gold at the 2010 Thomas Cup in Kuala Lumpur. He only featured in their opening match against Peru, taking just 31 minutes to beat his opponent, before being replaced in the team by Bao Chunlai for the later rounds. Chen's first individual title of 2010 came at the Bitburger Open in Germany, where he beat Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus 21-3 12-21 21-9 in the final of the GP Gold event. His good form continued when he finished runner-up to Lin Dan at the China Masters two weeks later, going down 15-21 21-13 14-21 to the reigning Olympic champion.

Chen obtained a second team gold medal of the year with China at the Asian Games held in Guangzhou, but did not feature in the individual event. More success followed when he won the China Open Super Series two weeks later. His passage to the final included a controversial walkover by Lin Dan in the quarter-finals and a hard fought victory over current World champion Chen Jin in the semi-finals. In the final, he squared off against teammate Bao Chunlai, emerging the victor after 75 minutes of play. Chen's attempt at back-to-back Super Series titles came to an end at the hands of former Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat in the semi-final of the Hong Kong Open the following week. Chen's strong finish to the year saw his world ranking rise to a career high of 3rd, briefly becoming the top ranked Chinese player.

Despite his recent success, Chen Long was clearly outclassed in the semifinal of the Malaysia Open 2011 by the world number 1 Lee Chong Wei. It took only 39 minutes to blow away the upcoming Chinese star with a score of 21-9 and 21-9. The demoralizing defeat was evident a week later when he was blown out in the second round of Korea Open 2011 by Kenichi Tago. His first individual title of the year came at the Thailand Open, where he beat experienced Korean player Lee Hyun-il in the final.

Carlos Eduardo González (born October 17, 1985, in Maracaibo, Venezuela) (nicknamed CarGo) is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Colorado Rockies.

González was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 3, 2002. González began his professional career in 2003 for the Rookie League Missoula Osprey. González batted just .258 with 6 home runs in 72 games. In 2004, González split time between the Low Single-A Yakima Bears and the Single-A South Bend Silver Hawks. In 85 games, he batted .275 with 10 home runs.

In 2007, Baseball America rated González at #18 on their top 100 prospects list and was the 3rd highest Diamondbacks player on that list. González mainly played for the Double-A Mobile BayBears, but also spent some time with in Triple-A with the Tucson Sidewinders. González played in 130 games and batted .288 with 17 home runs. González led the BayBears in home runs (16) and RBI (75). González was once again named to the All-Star Futures Game.

On May 30, 2008, González made his MLB debut against the Texas Rangers, where he got first career hit, an opposite field double down the left field line off Texas Rangers pitcher Kevin Millwood. This was one of two doubles he hit in his major league debut. His next five major league hits were also doubles, making González the first player since Hall of Famer Johnny Mize in 1936 to record the first seven hits of his career as extra base hits. On June 20, 2008, González hit his first career home run against the Florida Marlins. It was a solo home run that was hit off a curveball to right-center field. He had his first 4-hit game, going 4 for 4 against the Toronto Blue Jays on August 8.

In 2010, González garnered serious consideration as a candidate for the National League MVP award, along with St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto, as well as a Triple Crown candidate with the above-mentioned first basemen. However, González fell short on home runs and narrowly missed having the most RBI, but did manage to win the NL batting title in 2010 with a .336 average. He finished with 34 home runs, 117 RBI and a National League-leading 197 hits.

González received the National League Players Choice Award for Outstanding Player in 2010.[6] He then won the Players Choice Award for Player of the Year throughout Major League Baseball.González was also voted the winner of the 2010 Luis Aparicio Award, which is given to the most outstanding Venezuelan player in Major League Baseball, as voted by Venezuelan and international Spanish-speaking media. He finished third in voting by the Baseball Writers Association of America for National League MVP.For his defensive efforts in 2010, in which he only committed one error in the outfield, González won his first Gold Glove. On the offensive side, González received his first Silver Slugger Award.
